Posted by sacmath on January 19, 2014 at 1:25 AM Comments comments (4)

There are contests slated for February. On Sunday February 9, there will be an Elementary School Contest in the morning and a High School Contest in the afternoon.

There will be no Middle School Contest (because I am running the MathCounts regional on Sat Feb 8 ), but middle school students are welcome to attend the High School contest and will be put in their own category for awards.

One More Contest?

Posted by sacmath on April 8, 2010 at 2:56 PM Comments comments (1)

All --

It's been quiet for SACMATH recently. Since the close of the January HS Contest, I've had a lot of work and other commitments. Contests such as AMC-10/12, MathCounts, California Math League, Rocket City Math League, and MOEMS have all finished up.

But SACMATH might not be done yet! I'm looking at one more contest: An Elementary School Contest that would be held in the middle of May.

As soon as I get site details set up, I'll anno...

I have posted the results of the High School Contest on the website. They can be reached through the "Contest Results" link on the side of the main page.

NEW: Calculator Test

Posted by sacmath on January 4, 2010 at 5:05 PM Comments comments (0)

I have decided to add a Calculator Test to the High School Contest on January 16, 2010. Since students always bring a calculator to the math contests, the Calculator Test is a fun way to test their skills with the calculator and give them experience with using a calculator to solve mathematical problems that are more "real-world" (and thus have messy numbers).

Information about the Calculator Test, along with resources and sample tests, can be found on the "Test Details" page.

Number Sense @ Stanford

Posted by sacmath on December 22, 2009 at 12:18 AM Comments comments (1)

I was invited to run a Number Sense Test at a MATHLEAGUE.ORG Middle School contest at Stanford the past weekend.  I don't have full results, because we were in a rush in the grading room to get the scoring done before the end of the Countdown Round, but I do have the top three per grade (name, school, score), who received trophies from SACMATH.

6th Grade

First = Tomas C, Hopkins JHS, 196

Second = Ja...

The SACMATH High School Contest has been rescheduled to Saturday January 16. The rest of the contest details (time, format, schedule, location) remain the same.

All registered students have been notified of the new date. Any registered students who can not make the new date will received a full refund.

There's still room in the contest, so tell your friends and students to come to the contest!
